With Dizzy at the North Sea Jazz Festival (1980?)
As a 13 year old kid I approached Dizzy in his dressing room, feeling very shy. There were a few women with him and I remember one of them saying: "Come in dear, he won't bite". Dizzy turned around, looked at me furiously and said "Oh yes he will..." rolling his eyes dangerously. Of course everybody cracked up laughing. When I asked him if I could have our picture taken, so I could someday show it to my grandchildren he chuckled: "You' better get yourself some children first!"
Listen to two tunes from my latest duo recording with the German pianist Kuno Kurner: Out of nowhere

From the CD Autumn in New York ('98) you can listen to an original composition Bop Tune
There are tunes by Tom Harrell, Bert Joris, a few standards and some originals. For ordering just send me an email.
This picture was taken in Café de Sport in the Hague, with Jos Machtel, Wim Kegel and Frans Elsen. Here I had the pleasure of hearing and sitting in with many, many great musicians like Billy Higgins, Sal Nestico, Ferdinand Povel, Bob Berg, Ruud Brink, Wim Overgauw, Doug Raney, John Engels ... the list is endless. I consider myself very fortunate.
Here you can listen to an MP3 of a trp solo op Thou Swell from a never issued CD with Benjamin Herman and Frans Elsen, (that you could also order a copy of by sending me an email).
With a very young Marco Kegel and Lee Konitz, during a conservatory workshop.

In the old Regentenkamer, with Hein van der Geyn and Cees Kranenburg.
A clip from the LP "A Portrait of Chet" from 1989 with Georgie Fame, Peter Niewerf, Jo Krause and Frits Landesbergen titled Go Go
Georgie Fame was quoted saying: "Niels Tausk plays with a maturity that by far belies his years!" (I was twenty one).
On double bass I can be heard on many CDs, including this one by Menno Daams, with Sjoerd Dijkhuizen, Hans Dekker and David Kweksilber.
On trumpet I can be heard on the new CD of Bryant Olender, "Thats amore" with Tom Beek, Peter Schön, Maarten van der Grinten and Frits Landesbergen. I am also featured on the CD " Young Dutch jazz Cats" by the Beets Brothers, with among others Martijn van Iterson, Ilja Reingoud and Marco Kegel.
The CD "New Amsterdam" by Mathilde Santing (Sony Music) received an Edison award. It was partly recorded live in the Royal Carré theatre,
and features a few of my arrangements.
